The Alexandra Story

Built in 1735 for the Dowager Countess Poulett and later the home of the Duc du Stackpoole, the Alexandra became a hotel in 1901 and for over 100 years has continued to uphold its tradition as a timeless haven of English peace and charm. The Alexandra has been privately owned and managed by the Haskins family for over 30 years, providing guests with the upmost in comfort.

Our chef is happy to cater for your needs in our award winning restaurant. Day away? A packed lunch will be waiting for you first thing in the morning. Fancy fresh lobster pulled from the pot? We’ll do our best to track down the local catch from the harbour.

Caught your own fish? Why not let us cook it for you! Need an expert? There are lots of great things to do in Dorset whilst staying at the Alexandra Hotel.
